Pan STARRS (Panoramic Survey Telescope And Rapid Response System) is a wide field astronomical imaging system (3°) developed and operated by the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Hawaii. It has two telescopes, one operating since 2014 and the second since May 2018. Pan-STARRS was operated by a consortium of institutions, with NASA providing the main part of the funding.
Pan-STARRS spends most of its time searching for Near Earth Objects, and Pan-STARRS1 has become the leading NEO discovery telescope. From 2014 to 2019, Pan STARRS discovered about 250 000 new asteroids, more than 4000 of which being Near Earth Objects. Each telescope observe all the sky in 4 nights.
