OSIRIS REX

Launched in September 2016, this probe arrived near the near-Earth asteroid Bennu in August 2018 and brought a sample back to Earth in September 24, 2023.

This NASA mission (from the New Frontiers project) collected a sample of regolith on the surface of the asteroid 101955 Bennu (1999 RQ35) which is one of the most primitive asteroids (type B). This mission has measured the Yarkovsky effect, that is to say the effect of solar radiation on the orbit. A good knowledge of this effect will make it easier to protect Earth from the collisions of this type of NEO.
