The Mars Odyssey space probe was launched in April 2001 and reached Mars in October of the same year.

The Mars Odyssey probe has been put into orbit around Mars using the atmosphere of the planet to slow down its course. The probe carries equipment to improve our knowledge of the Martian climate and look for water or for a favorable living environment.
