    This eclipse is the first annular-total eclipse of the XXIst century.

          

    The central path begins south of New Zealand then runs through the Pacific Ocean, it ends on the South Central America (Panama) and northern South America (Colombia and Venezuela). On this trip, while it is total phase, it passes near the Pitcairn (Oeno Atoll) Islands in its final phase, it passes through the American continent in its annular phase. There are therefore no place on Earth where the eclipse is observable in the form of a total eclipse.
