    This eclipse is the third total eclipse of twenty-first century. It bears the number 7641 in the canon of Oppolzer and belongs to the Saros series number 152 of the canon of eclipses of Mucke and Meeus. In the canon of solar eclipses calculated by the IMCCE, this eclipse is the 12th of Saros number 200.

    This is a polar eclipse, the path of totality only passes on the Antarctica where it is almost grazing close to the horizon. The partial phase will be visible from Australia and part of New Zealand. After crossing Antarctica, it will end on South America (Argentina and Chile).
