Description of the eclipse


This eclipse is the penultimate total eclipse of the XXth century, the last one being the 11th of August 1999. The four eclipses of 2000 are partial. It bears the number 7628 in the canon of Oppolzer and belongs to the Saros series number 125 of the canon of eclipses of Mucke and Meeus. Its central path begins in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, across southern Panama, northern Colombia and Venezuela, the Lesser Antilles and ends north of the Azores.
