RINGS OF SATURN

In 1675 the French astronomer Jean-Dominique Cassini brought to light the fragmentation of the ring of Saturn. He watched in fact two distinct rings, separated by a dark area, which is referred now as the Cassini division.

Later other rings will be discovered, space probes showing thousands of small concentric rings.
