The module of Apollo 11 as seen by LRO

LRO is a mission whose goal is to map the Moon at high resolution to detect water in the polar regions and to increase our knowledge of this complex body to prepare for a possible return of man on the Moon .

Launched on 18 June 2009, the LRO has been put on a low polar orbit (50 km high). This mission has an initial term of one year but has been extended for another three years.
