This eclipse is the fifth annular eclipse of the XXIst century.
It is visible in partial form on all of South America and western Africa. The central path begins on Guyana, northern Suriname, French Guyana and the extreme northeast of Brazil, then crossed the South Atlantic Ocean without encountering any island. It ends in the Indian Ocean north of the Antarctica.
