Cassini was able to penetrate the layer of clouds to see the surface of Titan. The white spot is a hot spot on the surface.

Titan's surface seems to be covered with frozen methane. Stones that can be seen can be methane ice: they have a size of about 15 cm (images from Huygens probe).
