    This eclipse is the second annular eclipse of the twenty-first century. It bears the number 7638 in the canon of Oppolzer and belongs to the Saros series number 137 of the canon of eclipses of Mucke and Meeus. This annular eclipse crosses nearly only oceans.
    The central path begins west of the Pacific ocean, on Indonesia, then across the Pacific ocean and ends in Central America. Throughout this trip, only the Sunda Islands and Talaud Islands are traversed by the central path. In addition, these islands being located near the origin of the central path, the annular eclipse will be seen very low on the horizon East just after sunrise.
